San Diego Bound

Top: H&M, similar here/ Skirt: Madewell, similar here/ Wedges: Steve Madden, similar here/ Belt: Anthropologie/ Hat: Forever 21/ Bracelets: Alex & Ani

BF and I planned a quick getaway to San Diego this past weekend. The sun was shining and the weather was perfect. We stayed at the Hotel Indigo and took Kennedy along (I love dog-friendly hotels!).  Since the weather cooperated, I was able to wear some of my favorite spring items, like my most comfortable Steve Madden espadrille wedges and casual-chic midi skirt.
Happy Monday!

Flashback

Dress: Missoni for Target/ Sweater: J Crew/ Wedges: Theory

It goes without question that my Mom is one of my style icons.  I love to go through old pictures of her when she was in her 20s to get some inspiration. This past weekend, I came across pictures of her rocking 6.5 inch wedges, colorful crochet mini dress, and the most amazing sleek-straight auburn hair.  I fell in love with my Mom’s look, but then I got annoyed that my Mom has not kept a single item of clothing, shoes, or accessories from her youth. After an hour of sulking, I reminded myself that I am my mother’s daughter after all and have everything I need to recreate the look.  I snapped up pictures and sent them over to my Mom – she knew right away that I was recreating her look from 35 years ago.  Is your Mom your style icon?

Gold Bow

Top: Theory/ Bow: Vintage/ Pants: Zara, similar here and here/ Heels: Louboutin/ Bag: Marc Jacobs/ Bracelets: Alex & Ani/ Ring: Banana Republic

I found this lovely gold bow brooch at a thrift store many years ago (for less than $2!) and knew I would have a blast styling it. I’ve usually added it to sweaters, headbands, and clutches for a little something extra.  I had a meeting at work the other day with the executives, so I had to go for a more conservative look than my usual fun outfits. Fortunately, my boss doesn’t require a suit, nor does he like to inhibit my sense of style (he is the best). After I put on this outfit, I felt too stodgy and too conservative (it does exist!). I remembered my beloved bow, which added the perfect feminine touch to an otherwise stuffy look.

Blue Crush

Blazer: Zara/ Top: Tucker for Target/ Pants: Alice & Olivia/ Belt: Banana Republic, similar here/ Heels: Ash/ Clutch: Rebecca Minkoff/ Bracelets: Alex & Ani/ Ring: Vintage
As women, we know we should always dress the part and be confident. But dressing in some dreadful frocks when we’re not feeling our best is neither confident nor appealing. Instead, I let my mood dictate the color scheme I’m going to wear. I would rather leave the house wearing all black, than let’s say leg warmers, my old gym sweatshirt, and a baseball cap.  I was feeling a little blue yesterday, so I put on my favorite pants (in blue), threw up my hair in a messy bun, and was ready to face the day (it actually turned out to be a pretty fabulous day in the end).  This trick has helped me face the days that I’m not just feeling my usual energetic self because I leave the house feeling confident!

Do you have any tricks for facing a tough day?

FEATURES, PRESS

Feature on StyledOn!

This week has been extremely busy, but pretty fabulous at the same time. I was able to channel a lot of the stress into creative projects at work and on the blog. Ever since I discovered StyledOn several months ago, it has been one of the sites I visit daily to get some style inspiration. Of course, I am so thrilled that they featured my looks twice this week. You can check out the first feature “Steal Her Style” here, and the Community Round Up here.

How was your week? I’d love to here from you!

As always, thanks for stopping by my blog and for your support!

Peach Mini, Part Two

Chambray Shirt: Gap/ Sweater: Theory/ Skirt: H&M/ Flats: J. Crew/ Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs/ Sunnies: Ray Ban

As promised, here is part two of the peach mini post. As I mentioned yesterday, I fell in love with this leather mini and wore it all weekend long – dressed up and casual. I threw on my favorite chambray button down, softest sweater, and glitter ballet flats for a day of errands and dinner with mom.

In other news, a big thanks to the gals at StyledOn for featuring me for this week’s “Steal her Style”.  You can check out how to recreate the look here
