It’s definitely in the details…I love when classic, simple pieces have unique detailing that takes the look from shab to chic.  I still can’t decide what I love most about this leather jacket – the laser cut embellishments, the scalloped neckline, or the beautiful printed lining! An everyday striped sweater is updated with the bow detailing, and the high-waist pants are every petite girl’s dream come true (can you say mile-long legs!).  The most important detail in my opinion is to balance a black and white look with pops of color, a la coral/red heels and lips to match.

Do you think it’s in the details?

*A couple of readers have asked whether my heels are red or coral. I say both; they are an in between color which is perfect when I need either color.

T-shirt: Target
Skirt: Forever 21 (old)
Hat: H&M (recent)
Bracelets: Alex & Ani and Serena Leena

It is pouring rain outside as I’m posting these pictures from a lovely weekend, which was spent at Descanso Gardens enjoying the lilacs.  Since my work wear is usually so structured, I wanted to wear the total opposite – flowing layers.  I bought this skirt last year from Forever 21 (on clearance) and finally got around to wearing it!  I love the print and wrap-style.  I tried a quick trick to shorten the skirt (drying it on super heat), but it didn’t seem to work as well as I had hoped. I guess I’ll need to do a DIY alterations!

Also, if you’re searching for the perfect tee, I highly recommend this this one from Target. It is super soft, has a great fit, and is only $6. I have it in several colors and wear them all the time.  I know some people swear by pricey tees that cost upwards of $100, but I don’t understand the need to spend over $20 on a basic item, even if you’ll wear it every day!

Thanks for visiting!

One of my favorite things to do on Sundays, besides sleeping in, is indulging in a decadent brunch meal. I didn’t get to sleep in this past Sunday because our cat Zero got himself stuck in a tree while running away from a coyote. After hours of trying to get him down (at 6 AM), we gave up and took Kennedy for a walk. When we returned, Zero had found his way back down and was lounging about on our patio.  Not fair.  I did get to indulge in a decadent brunch though.  BF and I tried out the Kitchen at Atwater Crossing, which was fabulous. The setting and the meal are definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.  I remembered to take pictures of my meal after I had finished it, so I apologize for a lack of foodie pictures.

In other news, the beautiful weather this weekend gave way to cold and gloomy, so I’m a little bitter right now that I’m posting pictures of me in summer attire when its 50 degrees outside.

I hope you’re all having a beautiful Tuesday! xx

Top: Old Navy, love this sleeveless version here
Skirt: Anthropologie
Belt: Banana Republic, similar here
Heels: Pour la Victoire, similar here for $26, and I would love these!
Watch: Casio
Bracelet: Gorjana

Hope you’re all doing well. I apologize for the lack of posts this week – I’ve been sick with a terrible cold! I’m finally feeling better and finally went back to work (9 to 5, plus my blog!) The upside of being sick? My cousin bought me the coolest gift ever – a gold Casio watch. Yes, it’s a total throwback and I love it!  Anyways, back to work. I love mixing unexpected pieces for the office, like this casual chambray shirt with a ruched pencil skirt and leopard belt. How do you like to mix up pieces at work, or just for fun?

As always, thanks for visiting! xoxo

Nautical Workday

{Zara top, similar on sale for $4\ Anthropologie skirt, similar\Chloe heels, really cute options here, here, and a $49 option here\Forever 21 necklace\DvF bag, similar here}

I recently bought this skirt from Anthro (on sale for $19!) since it has the look of peplum without all the volume (I’m too petite to pull off peplum, I think). It’s a perfectly cut pencil skirt in lightweight linen (fabulous times 2). The sunny and warm weather is the perfect excuse to wear my new skirt, and with a nautical twist.  I love nautical inspired outfits because I don’t have to think too much about it, but it looks like I did! It’s also one of the many trendy looks that are office appropriate!

Purple Haze

{Theory dress, similar here and here\H&M belt, similar here, here, and here\LV clutch, YSL heels (thrifted), J. Crew bracelets}

Although wedding season is just beginning (for me at least), I know I want to try something different with my formal wear. Instead of opting for a cocktail dress to a wedding this past weekend, I decided to wear my comfortable and rather casual Theory maxi dress (it comes with pockets!).  I found this beautiful tassel belt at H&M for under $10, which added the right amount of elegance for an outdoor spring wedding.  Simple is always better, so I went with sleek straight hair a la Jennifer Aniston, limited my jewelry to a few bracelets, and my beloved YSL brocade heels.

Do you have any ideas to change up the typical wedding wear?
