This dress was my savior on Tuesday when temperatures hit the high 90s here in Los Angeles!  It’s always hard to dress for work on days like this as the freezing a/c indoors and the sweltering heat outdoors cause uncomfortable situations in the wardrobe department. This dress was the perfect answer: it’s professional with a blazer (I had to wear a slip under as the slits are high), yet loose and cool enough when I had to walk outside to meet a friend for lunch. The black collar and neckline, and longer hemline in the back add the perfect details to this thrifty dress ( it’s under $20!).

Dressed Down Lace

Sweater: H&M – under $20!
Skirt: Zara, similar
Heels: Pour la Victoire, similar
Bag: H&M

As much as I love to dress up basics, I like to dress down items that are usually considered for dress up.  When I bought this skirt from Zara in the spring, I figured I could wear it a few times through the spring and summer.  I was wrong – this has been one of the most versatile pieces in my closet – I have been able to tone down this skirt for work, dress up for cocktails, and now dress down for a casual look. Hope you are all doing well. How to Wear a Yellow Blazer #20 – Au Revoir!

Blazer: Zara
Dress: J. Crew
Heels: Miu Miu
Bag: Zara
Scarf: H&M

And so here is my last outfit post with my beloved yellow blazer. It was so much fun to try out so many different outfits with this trendy piece – it has actual become a staple in my closet because of its versatility. I hope I have inspired some outfit posts for you along the way.  Most importantly, it’s okay to splurge on a trendy piece each season, as long as you’re ready to try out variety of different looks with it.  This is not goodbye for my yellow blazer since I still have another 20 looks that I will try out (I will spare you the posts).  If you’d like to see a series of “how to” wear a trend item, please leave me comment and I would love to take on another fashion challenge! XO

And if I have successfully inspired you to splurge on a yellow blazer, here are some options:

How to Wear a Yellow Blazer #18 – Cocktail Hour

Blazer: Zara (save here, splurge here)
Dress: BCBG (old)
Heels: Pour la Victoire (similar here for $30)
Clutch: Gustto
Jewelry: David Yurman bracelet & ring, vintage bracelet, Michele watch

I love it when I find an “oldie but a goodie” in my closet, like this dress.  I’ve had it for years, but I haven’t put it on for the last 2 summers! Finding an old dress in your closet is almost as fabulous as shopping, especially when the dress still fits!  Given the horribly hot weekend in LA, this dress was the perfect find for a night out for cocktails.  It has inspired me to dig around a bit more and see what other treasures I can find in my closet!

A Little Picnic Time

Top: J. Crew
Shorts: Forever 21
Flats: Zara, great F21 option here for $14
Jewelry: David Yurman Bracelet, Michele Watch

The BF and I had just enough time for a quick picnic at the park the other day. I kept the look simple and didn’t want to fuss over my hair sticking to me in the heat and humidity.  I did a simple french braid starting on the left side of my head and worked my way to the right and down. I then looped the braid up and fastened with a couple of bobby pins.  I think this is my go to hair for rainy and humid days.
