Hammock Time

Lazy days are always a good option, especially when it includes a nap on a warm, sunny day.  I took a nice long nap in our hammock this weekend (the first time this year!).  As much as I love the idea of naps, I rarely fall asleep. I usually just lay there and think, which is the opposite of relaxation, no? I must have been tired since it only took two minutes after snapping these pictures for me to stay put in the hammock and drift off to sleep land.

Red Dress and Wedges

After a busy and long work week, I was glad to sit back and enjoy this past weekend, which started out with a fabulous clothing swap party hosted by the lovely Kelly Golightly.  We all brought clothes to trade and donate for a great cause – I was lucky enough to pick up this beautiful bag handcrafted by Kristen of Glitter ‘n Glue (my favorite DIY blog around).  The schedule for the rest of the weekend did not include anything else but a mani-pedi, multiple naps, and eating – definitely my kind of weekend!  However, by Sunday afternoon I was feeling a little trapped in the house so BF and I headed out for a stroll around the neighborhood.  I was happy to throw on a simple dress and my new sky-high and super comfy wedges from ShoeDazzle

Vintage Find Friday: Lamps

A vintage pair of lamps can dramatically change your decor for the better, whether at home or at the office.  Vintage lamps also mesh well with most styles of decor from traditional to modern – yes, even better than that great find at Ikea.  You can find beautiful and immaculate vintage lamps at most vintage stores, but you can score some beauties in thrift stores and on eBay that will require some TLC as long as you are persistent in your search.  I’ve included some picks that only require your credit card in hand and some pretty lampshades.  However, you should definitely look into your local thrift store for some finds (I will be posting a DIY on how to refurbish discolored brass and some other enhancement tricks from taking your vintage to glam – stay tuned).  Here are three styles that are guaranteed to take your space from drab to fab.

For those of you who entered the Lulu*s Giveaway, I have announced the winner on the blog post! See you if you are the lucky winner!

Lace Pencil Skirt

It really doesn’t get any better than this outfit for work.  It has the comfort level of sweat pants and house slippers, without the sweats and slippers! As you’ve noticed, my usual go-to outfits for work are either sleek pencil skirts or high-waist trousers paired with a bold blazer (remember my 20 outfits with the yellow blazer?). I do like to change things up a bit and try to find pieces that I can wear at the office and beyond.  This pencil skirt from Anthropologie has the sleekness of a pencil skirt but it is as comfy as my favorite t-shirt, which means total usage at the office, dinner, weekend outings, lunch dates and the list goes on.  I kept my look simple with neutral tones and my favorite cardigan which has the right amount of sparkle to take it from frumpy to fab.

PS – Have you noticed how long my hair is getting! Wowza! I am considering chopping off a few inches however…what do you think?

Blue + Pink + Vintage Tassel Necklace

Blue and pink is one of my favorite color combinations, as seen here and here, and as Spring quickly rolls into Los Angeles I find myself gravitating toward this combination over and over again.  As much as I love the tailored pencil skirt for work, this flouncy, pleated skirt in a perfectly bright pink color has been a welcomed change to my work wardrobe – it definitely adds more fun and movement to the look and my day.

I hate Mondays, but here’s to hoping this is a fabulous week! Don’t forget to enter the $100 Lulu*s Giveaway – it ends Friday!  xx

Phone Booth

Despite the red phone booths, I did not trot over to London to snap these pictures.  BF and I came across them as we were shopping around for our wedding registry (can you believe that the wedding is coming up so quickly – ahh!).  These phone booths were in a beautiful courtyard and walkway in between the shops and busy street.  It was such a relaxing spot to take a moment to sit back and enjoy our surroundings.  Of course, I had to get a picture with the phone boots.

Sprinklettes + a Fab Lulu*s Giveaway!

On a beautiful Saturday morning in Beverly Hills, Jenny, Kelly and I just happened to bump into each other right in front of Sprinkles wearing the same dress! Can you believe it? We couldn’t believe it either… We were just missing our friend, Emily.

We started out our day working the Sprinkles Cupcake ATM (yes, it really is an ATM that dispenses cupcakes).  That’s when people thought we were the Sprinklettes – models for Sprinkles. We definitely looked the part in our pastel perfection dresses. So we decided that we would call ourselves the Sprinklettes.

Next up, we waltzed around and waited for the Sprinkles Ice Cream shop to open up.  Of course, we were photobombed a few times, but we ended up making a friend along the way too.
Like the fabulous Sprinklettes that we are, we decided to go explore and strut our stuff to the people of Beverly Hills.  That’s when the TMZ tour bus rolled by and called out to us and we officially became part of the tour.  But I’m guessing that the Sprinklettes’ stop on the tour is a one-time ordeal.
We ended the day on a high note and finally got our delicious ice cream – as you can tell, we were very excited about it!  Our ice cream matched our pretty get-ups perfectly. It really was pastel perfection!
Now onto my outfit details.  I chose to try a mod look to rework this classic shift dress.  I was feeling inspired by Megan Draper.  I used a vintage scarf as a head wrap and added a vintage crochet bag with some bright bangles to complete my look.  I love Kelly’s classic, chic look and Jenny’s California cool style.  It just goes to show that you can give the same dress to a variety of ladies and each will style it to her personality – that’s what I love about Lulu*s – all of the pieces are so wearable and work for so many ladies
